My Thoughts

This was a great tutorial, though I would probably class this more as a demonstration – rather than a tutorial. The sorts of tutorials that I am used to give you set instructions that you can follow (example: set Gaussian blur to 225 and then set the layer opacity to .5), but this tutorial (possibly due to its PRO designation) was all him showing and talking about doing things rather than giving set instructions for you to follow. There is nothing wrong with this, just if you are looking for step by step instructions to recreate the images shown on his site you will be disappointed.

I was able to grasp the concepts that he was talking about and really feel like I came away with some new things that I had not thought about before. I was expecting to have to take this tutorial in chunks, given its length but it was exactly the opposite. Once I was able to dedicate the time to sit down and watch the video time seemed to fly bye.

It was also great to gain some great insights into the Master LAB Mode, working with textures, and editing in 16bit mode. I highly recommend this tutorial for anyone looking to spice up their creative editing skills. You can’t go wrong with this tutorial or any tutorial on Phlearn for that matter.
